Gratwanderung guided walks 2018
Every second Sunday of the month and during the Roter Hang Wine Showcase on the second weekend in June. Meet at 3 pm in Nierstein’s market square; no advance booking is required.
The approximately two-hour walk through the Roter Hang is led by Nierstein’s Culture and Wine Ambassadors and offers wonderful views of the Rhine. Along the way, discover the Roter Hang’s distinctive geology, landscape, plants, viticulture and seasonal vineyard work. Participants can hold 290-million-year-old rock and even shark teeth from the time when Rheinhessen lay beneath the sea.
The walk ends with a tasting of three Roter Hang wines, introduced by one of the local winegrowers, so you can taste the uniqueness of this vineyard area in your glass.
Gratwanderung is a collaboration between the Culture and Wine Ambassadors of Rheinhessen (KWB) and Wein vom Roten Hang e.V.
