Getting to the Roter Hang in Nierstein

Whether you arrive on foot, by bicycle, by car or by train, we look forward to welcoming everyone keen to experience the Roter Hang in Nierstein. Nierstein lies on the Rhine in beautiful Rheinhessen, between Mainz and Worms.

Arriving by car

From Mainz or Worms, we recommend the B9 main road, which runs directly through Nierstein.

From Alzey or Bad Kreuznach to the west, the B420 leads to Nierstein.

From Hesse to the east, the Landskrone Rhine ferry connects Kornsand on the Hessian bank with Nierstein in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Once in Nierstein, follow the local parking guidance system. We have marked many of the car parks on the map below.

Arriving by train

You can also reach Nierstein by train. S-Bahn services run daily between Mainz Hauptbahnhof and Mannheim Hauptbahnhof, generally every half hour. Further timetable information is available at: https://reiseauskunft.bahn.de

The final stretch to the Roter Hang on foot

The Roter Hang lies north of Nierstein towards Nackenheim. From Nierstein’s market square, follow Karolingerstraße towards Kranzberg, then take Kleine Steig towards the Roter Hang.
