For the 2026 DWI Wine Walking Weekend, the Wein vom Roten Hang association invites you on a special journey along our Wine Experience Trail. Walk through the spectacular Roter Hang landscape with a winegrower and hear first-hand what makes our vineyard sites unique. Sunday’s walk is exclusively accompanied by Rheinhessen Wine Queen Kathrin Knierim!

At six of the twelve selected stops, taste wines right where they grow, overlooking the Rhine and the red rocks that made these vineyards famous. A small regional picnic is included.

The guided walk starts at the Alter Saumarkt in Nierstein, the first stop on the Wine Experience Trail. From there, the route covers around 8 kilometres through the vineyards and takes approximately 3½–4 hours, depending on breaks and chats with the winegrower..

A tip for walkers:
Comfortable footwear, clothing suited to the weather and time to linger will help you make the most of this walk. If you would like to stay longer after the final stop, round off the day at one of Nierstein’s seasonal wine taverns or restaurants.
